On Saturday, September 10th, 2016, the Panama City Beach Firefighters will be hosting their annual 9-11 Memorial Stair Climb at Laketown Wharf in Panama City Beach. This unique fundraiser for the National Fallen Firefighters Foundations and other local memorial activities, pays tribute to the Firefighters; EMS, Law Enforcement, and Military personnel; and civilians that lost their lives on that fateful day.
The 9-11 Memorial Stair Climbers will honor the fallen by climbing 110 flights of stairs throughout the day. The Barn Restaurant will host a Free Dinner celebration for all climbers, where Door Prizes (donated by local sponsors) will be awarded.
This amazing fundraiser is open to the public and is family-friendly so make sure that you bring your kids to remind them about our 9-11 heroes.
Register online through Labor Day Monday, September 5. After September 5, you must register in person Friday 5-9pm or Saturday 8-9:30am.
9/11 Memorial Stair Climb Itinerary
Friday August 26th:
6pm to 8:30pm : Mandatory Volunteer Meeting at location to be determined (look for signs to find meeting spot) Get your Volunteer t-shirt and task assignments
Friday September 9th:
6pm to 9pm : Get your memorial name tag, t-shirt, complete registration paperwork, turn in sponsorship forms, purchase merchandise, explore the climb site, and relax
Saturday September 10th:
8am to 9:30am : Late on site registration and check in. Get your memorial name tag, t-shirt, complete registration paperwork, turn in sponsorship forms, purchase merchandise, and get in position for climb
9:00am : Home Depot Kids Workshop opens
10:00am : Blessing of the Helmets & Badges Ceremony and Prayer
10:30am : Climb starts. Two different stairwells this year, one for those climbing up & down and one for those climbing up all 5 times. A lunch of hot dogs and snacks will be provided after the climb
6:00-8:30pm : FREE Celebration Dinner for climbers and one guest at The Barn Restaurant Door prizes will be drawn during the climb and the winners will be listed on the prize board.
